65th DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF BABASAHEB
Mahaparinirvana Diwas is celebrated on 6th December every year to remember the death anniversary of Dr.BR. Ambedkar. The central government has celebrated the death anniversary of Ambedkar as Mahaparinirvana Diwas on December 6th, 2021 as a part of the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations.

On this day, Indian pay tribute to the chief architect of the constitution, and remember his contributions to Indian society. Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was born on 14th April 1891, in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh in a Dalit Hindu family. He was popularly known as Jai Bhim, Babasaheb Ambedkar. He was an Economist, social reformer, lawyer, professor, educationist.
He served as India’s first Law Minister in 1947 and was appointed as chairman of the Drafting Committee. The idea of the Reserve Bank of India came from the guidelines given to Hilton young’s commission based on his thesis “The Problem of The Rupee: Its Origin and Its Solution”

He had faced discrimination in his childhood and fought for the upliftment of the Dalits in India. He worked for the uplift of the Dalit community and established a central institution Bahishkrit Hitakarini Sabha to promote education and improve socio-economic conditions.
He has started publishing newspapers like Excluded India, Mooknayak, Janta in support of Dalits. He started the untouchability Movement for Dalits to enter into Hindu temples, public drinking water resources.
Ambedkar has founded the Buddhist Society of India in 1955 and written a book “The Buddha and his Dhamma” and published in 1956 after his Death. He abandoned Hinduism and followed Buddhism. he converted to Buddhism in 1956. On October 14th, 1956 in Nagpur in a public meeting he along with his 5 lakh supporters has converted into a Buddhist.
Ambedkar has been suffered from prolonged diabetics and bedridden due to his poor health condition. He passed away in his sleep on December 6th, 1956. Dr. Ambedkar was awarded Bharat Ratana in 1990 posthumously.
