India marks 50 years Swarnim Vijay Diwas on 16th December. The victory of India Pakistan war in 1971 and remember the brave heroes and their sacrifices to their motherland. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh remembered the 1971 war and called it the “Golden chapter in India’s Military History”.

On 27th March 1971 PM, Indira Gandhi has expressed full support for the Independence of East Pakistan. Chief of the Army Staff General Sam Manekshaw and his troop have defected from the Pakistan Army. The Pakistan Army has surrendered to the Indian Army Forces.Instrument of surrender
The war started on 3rd December 1971 to 16th December 1971. During 13 days of the war, India gained upper hand and resulted in the Instrument of Surrender. After World War II, this was the largest military surrender. It is estimated that 93,000 Pakistan soldiers were taken prisoners by the Indian Army.

On 16th December 1971, Bangladesh has officially has become a new Nation. This day is observed as “Bijoy Dibos” and the birth centenary of Bangladesh Founder Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. President Kovind travelled to Bangladesh to attend Golden Jubilee Celebrations at Dhaka on 16th December.
